Unit lasted less than 5 months. Coils started icing up, then the unit began displaying EC codes and shutting down. Customer service is practically non-existent; contacting them is the real source of frustration.

1 week after our 1 year "warranity" expired the EC code appeared on our dehumidifier.. Contacted customer service and was told there was nothing they could do, or were willing to do. spoke to a supervisor and was told the same thing, 1 day or 1 week, did not matter. the key to superior customer service is to know when to know when "rules" should be adapted/modified, after all we are talking about 1 week. w

After 10 months our dehumidifier broke. When I reached out to get it replaced (as it is still under warranty) I was told we were eligible for a replacement. This was a month ago and we are still without our replacement. No one explained how long this would take and only today did someone apologize for how long it™™s taken. We™™ve had radio silence from the company and I™™ve had to reach out multiple times only to hear that our replacement was delayed. Why can™™t they just give us a voucher for a new machine? I am very unsatisfied with the whole experience and think you should consider a different system if you don™™t want to lose customers. Thank you!

I only got one year out of Frigidaire dehumidifier model FFAD5033W1. It it located in my finished basement of my newly built house. I first noticed water leaking from under the unit, after checking it out I could see the coils were froze up. I could not get to the filter or coils until I set it outside to melt the ice. The owners manual said it is too close to the wall or the electric outlet didn't supply enough current. The unit has been plug into the same outlet for a year it was located 2 feet from the wall. I spent 50.00 dollars and 2 month for a repairman to tell me the seal unit is bad and not worth fixing. I contacted the warranty dept. to ask for a warranty claim, but they told me it only had a one year on it. My point is it should last more than just one year for a 300.00 dollar unit or you would think customer service could discount another unit or at least pay the repair shop bill instead of just saying they are sorry. This type of appliances should last 5 to 10 years. I will never by another Frigidaire appliance again and I will have to advice others to do the same

This is our second dehumidifier of this Frigidaire model. So I am rating the performance and longevity of the 50 pint model. The unit does a good job of removing moisture from the basement of our home both on continuous and humidity level settings. However the first one lasted just days beyond the warranty before it showed error codes and stopped working. Frigidaire customer service gave us repair center references which were dead ends in terms of getting the unit repaired. We asked for some discount on buying a replacement unit but Frigidaire would not reward loyalty in this instance with any financial consideration. By our experience you can plan on a 3 year appliance life or equivalent of $100 per year.

This humidifier worked great in my basement. It is a relatively large space. The dehumidifier kept the room reasonably dry. The hose was easy to connect so I didn't need to use the bucket. It is also relatively quiet. Sadly, there is a 12-month warranty on this machine and after 13 months, 2 weeks, the machine stopped dehumidifying due to the formation of a large block of ice on the rear grill. I tried everything suggested in the owner's manual to no avail. I contacted Frigidaire and was told I did a good job of checking (and eliminating) all the possible problems. They gave me the number of a local repair shop, which I couldn't reach because the number they gave me was not correct. Besides, will it be worth fixing a $300 machine that already failed once? Maybe I have an isolated experience. If not, I'm hoping there will be a recall of this machine. Bottom line - I have generally found dehumidifiers to be undependable. While I keep other appliances for years past their lifespan, I've had bad luck with humidifiers. The Frigidaire truly worked great - until it suddenly had an early demise.

I was pretty satisfied with this unit. I would set it to a certain % for humidity, but sometimes it would change the setting. I'm not sure why. Other than that, it seemed to be working fine until recently when it started icing over. I called for assistance and waited on hold for 25 minutes only to be told that they couldn't take my call due to the high volume of calls. What am I suppose to do now??? It's about 3 years old so if this is the end of the product's life I am very dissatisfied! And of course, I can't talk to anyone about this. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!

Worked great until the warranty ran out, then the infamous EC code showed up. Fan runs, but compressor doesn't. Reviews shows customer support is just about worthless. $300 for less than 14 months use is ridiculous. I've had 5 units from various manufacturers and none last more than 2 years. At least this one hasn't been recalled for being a fire hazard...yet. Save your money and buy something cheap. None of these things last.

I have been using Frigidaire dehumidifiers for probably some 40 years now in my basement and have become accustomed to having them stop working as they should after some 3 years or so. I grew up in a family that only bought the Frigidaire brand for many appliances, but today, after having the new 70 pint dehumidifier I put into service in May of 2023 start icing up for no apparent reason---filter religiously cleaned, no blockage around the machine, etc., I went online and ordered a Honeywell dehumidifier after reading the reviews and ratings for this type of appliance. I remember many years ago not having to replace dehumidifiers for many years---they just ran and ran and worked and worked. It would appear that somewhere along the line the quality and reliability of Frigidaire dehumifiers has declined a great deal and that's too bad but enough is enough.

Bought this because my last Frigidaire dehumidifier lasted for years and worked great. This model didn't even last a year and a half before it started freezing up. So not even 2 summers. Tried all the fixes, clean filter, not a cold location, and not close to anything to block the airflow. Called their "service" location near me and was told they cannot repair, that model is a replace only! No help from Frigidaire, no discount towards a replacement unit, no assistance whatsoever. They obviously built a junk appliance, read all the online reviews, and are just ignoring the problems. They have last me as a customer. I'll never buy any Frigidaire product again.

My appliance developed what appears to be a refrigerant leak after less than 16 months, and is freezing up and leaking water. I contacted Frigidaire service, who told me I could pay a service center to fix it, but they suggested it would be more economical to just buy full price to buy another one. Very disappointed at this poor reliability for an appliance that cost over $200. Before it failed, the unit was quite effective but also noisy.

Bought two of these dehumidifiers two years ago. They both work well. The biggest downside is that there's no pour spout other than the back corner which I'd consider as a design flaw. In order to recycle the water, we use it to water plants. Unfortunately without a real pour spout, water spills/dribbles down the back of the bucket.

I like several things about this dehumidifier: (1) It's easy to set up. (2) When it's on, it makes a very low whirring sound. (3) It's easy to empty the bucket without spilling water. (4) It's very efficient. I leave it on in my basement 24 hours a day, and I empty the bucket each morning. It's that efficient. And (5) It looks very sleek and attractive, not industrial or bulky.

This unit was a replacement unit for the last one that gave out in only 2 years time, and now this one is icing up, the room temp is well above temp it should be to run fine. So I called them and was told this only had 1 year warrenty and to go find a shop to fix it. All I can say is this used to be a company that made quality products and I have stood by their name over the years, but after 2 dehumidifiers and 2 ACs from them that stopped working properly I am done! I will never buy another frigidaire product again.

I bought this dehumidifier at Home Depot in April of 2022. It worked quite well for the first year, and part of the second year. However, by August of 2023, or in less than 1 year and four months of use, the unit failed with an EC code, and no longer dehumidifies. Now it is worthless. Even worse, I have to haul it to a recycling center for disposal. What kind of reputable company makes an appliance that can't even last a year and a half with only modest use most of that time. It was only used about four months of the year. Not too likely I'll be buying any other Frigidaire appliance with this poor quality in the dehumidifier.

My unit worked fine until it started showing error code "EC", less than 2 years after my purchase. It was perfectly clean and used very little on humid days in the summer. I went through the troubleshooting steps with the support team, but was told that the unit is unrepairable and would not be replaced because it only has 1-year warranty. It feels like the company considers this equipment disposable.

This dehumidifier was a disappointment. I purchased it in June 2022 and used it during that summer, and put it away for the winter. In the summer of 2023 I plugged it in and it issued an error code that the service person said indicated was a condenser failure. I was just out of the 1-year warranty period (customer service rep couldn't find my online registration that I added one day after purchase), so a new dehumidifier is in order... after only 4 months of active service. It will not be a Frigidaire.

Worked for 18 months then died with EC code. Spent a lot of time waiting on their service line, only to be told, "tough", the warranty is over. They offered to find a local service center right before admitting it could NOT be fixed, but they were still unwilling to offer any support. They've lost a customer today and anyone I can convince to look elsewhere for their appliance needs.

I purchased this dehumidifier to run continuously in my basement. Unfortunately, it will run for about 45 minutes and then display an EC error code and shut off. I will unplug the unit and plug in again, then the unit is fine for another little while. It has done this since the time of purchase. With the constant stopping, it is difficult to make a difference in the humidity of the basement.

Dehumidifier didn™™t last long. Purchased 5/2022 and only need it for a limited time from June through October. Went to use it this year 6/2023 and continually had the EC error code. Frigidaire will no longer cover it as they state it is out of warranty. Had read on line that the EC code is due to faulty seals and/or bad condenser.

Excellent dehumidification. Quiet and effective. Just one distress - when the bucket is full, it is FULL and somewhat difficult to extract, carry, and empty without sloshing water about. I just make sure that it doesn't get that full; and if it does, I pull it out and carry it carefully.

Like many other recent 1-star reviews, our dehumidifier stopped working after the warranty period. About 2 months ago it started icing up. We made sure the filter was clean and it was not constantly running. After shutting it off for a few days then starting it back up, it would inevitably re-ice within a few days to a week. It now shows the EC code and will not function, with no discernible way to fix it. We have had it for 20 months and will not be buying another Frigidaire since this seems to be a common problem recently and the company is not taking ownership of the issue to help retain customers.

I thought I would just go ahead and spend the extra money for this 50 pint (.without the pump model) it is well built, powerful and in my opinion a high quality unit. I would definitly reccpmend

This is my second one that has failed after 2 years. The first one failed after two years. It would ice up and then run continuously and then the ice would melt all over the floor and then do that over and over. The replacement unit is doing the same thing almost exactly at the two year mark again.

This dehumidifier is a beast! It dries out my basement perfectly during the hot and humid New England Summers. The bucket is easy to empty and not too heavy when completely full. It's easy to move around between areas on Mt basement and has a great handle on the top if I want to bring it upstairs. Overall 10/10
